RouteRide ("RouteRide", "we", "us") helps you find cars for sale along a road trip route. This policy explains what information we handle when you use the RouteRide website, why we handle it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to the pages linked from it.
The short version: creating an account is optional, we don't run advertising or analytics trackers, and we don't sell your personal information. Trip details you type are sent to the mapping and inventory services that power the search, listed below. If you pay for RouteRide Pro or a Trip Pass, Stripe handles your payment directly — we never receive or store your card details.
1. Information we handle
Trip and search details you enter
Your starting point and destination, vehicle filters (make, model, trim, condition, price, engine, fuel type, drivetrain, color) and your maximum detour. We use these to build your route and search for matching cars. We do not ask for your device's GPS location.
Account information
Creating an account is optional. If you create one, we (through our authentication provider, Supabase) hold your email address and an encrypted copy of your password — we never see or store your password in plain text. Your account record also holds your current plan (Free, Trip Pass or Pro), when a paid plan expires, and, if you've paid, a customer and subscription identifier from our payment processor, Stripe, so we can keep your plan in sync with your billing status. If you're on RouteRide Pro and choose to save a route, we store that route's trip and filters, tied to your account, until you delete it or close your account.
Payment information
If you buy RouteRide Pro or a Trip Pass, your payment is handled entirely by Stripe on its own checkout page. We never receive, see or store your card number or other payment credentials — Stripe sends us back only confirmation that payment succeeded, along with the identifiers described above.
Information you send us
If you use the contact form or sign up for early access, we receive the details you submit: your name (if you give it), email address and message.
Technical information
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically records your IP address, browser and device type, the pages and files requested, and the time of the request. We use this to keep the site running, secure it and fix problems. If you search without an account, we also use your IP address to apply the daily search limit that applies to anonymous visitors — see "How long we keep information" below for how long that's kept.
Information stored on your device
Your browser's local storage keeps short-lived copies of vehicle make, model and trim lists so menus load faster, and, if you're signed in, the session token that keeps you logged in between visits. This is not shared with us until your browser sends it back to us to verify your session; it never leaves your device otherwise. RouteRide does not use cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking.
What we do not collect
We do not collect or store payment card details — that's handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your password in a form we or anyone else can read.
2. How we use information
- To provide the service: mapping your route, finding cars near it, and calculating detour times.
- To create and maintain your account, if you have one, and to apply the search limits, filters and trip-length allowance that come with your plan.
- To process payments for RouteRide Pro and Trip Pass through Stripe, and to keep your account's plan status in sync with your billing status.
- To respond to messages and support requests.
- To protect the service against abuse, automated scraping and excessive use, and to diagnose errors.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. Who receives information
We use service providers to run RouteRide. They receive only what they need to do their job:
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the site, runs our server functions and stores contact and early-access form submissions | Your IP address and request details; form submissions you send |
| Supabase | Runs accounts (sign-up, login, sessions), and stores your account, plan and (on Pro) saved-route data | Your email address, encrypted password, account and plan data, and any routes you save |
| Stripe | Processes payments for RouteRide Pro and Trip Pass | Your payment details, directly — never through our servers — plus your email address for receipts |
| MarketCheck | Supplies vehicle listings | Search areas along your route (coordinates and a radius) and your vehicle filters, sent from our server. Not your IP address or identity |
| OSRM (Project OSRM) | Calculates driving routes and detour times | Coordinates of your start, destination and candidate dealerships, plus your IP address |
| Photon (Komoot) and Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) | Place suggestions and address lookup | The place text you type and your IP address |
| OpenStreetMap tile servers | Map images | Your IP address and the map area you view |
| Cloudflare (cdnjs) and jsDelivr | Deliver open-source code libraries used by the site and map | Your IP address and browser details |
When you click a listing, or pay for a plan, you leave RouteRide for the dealer's, listing's or Stripe's own site, each of which has its own privacy practices. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect people or property, or as part of a business transfer.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not set cookies for analytics or advertising. If you sign in, we use your browser's local storage (not a cookie) to keep you signed in between visits — see "Information stored on your device" above. If we add analytics or advertising in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
5. How long we keep information
Contact and early-access submissions are kept until we no longer need them for the purpose you sent them, then deleted. Hosting and security logs are kept by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule. The trip details you type are used to answer your search; we do not build a search history about you. If you search without an account, the IP address used to apply the daily search limit is only associated with a per-day count, not kept as a history, and that count is not linked to any other information we hold about you. If you have an account, we keep your account and plan information until you ask us to delete your account, and any routes you save on RouteRide Pro until you delete them or close your account.
6. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it — including closing your account and deleting any saved routes — and you can ask us to stop contacting you. Canceling a paid plan is separate from deleting your account; see our Terms of Use for how billing works. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Economic Area), you may have additional rights, including to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local regulator. To make a request, use the contact form and choose "Privacy request". We may need to verify your identity before acting on it.
7. Security
We use HTTPS and keep secret keys on the server, never in your browser. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
RouteRide is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Where information is processed
RouteRide is operated from the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you use RouteRide from outside the United States, you understand your information may be transferred there.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice on the site.
